Pratidhwani WB in collaboration with Anwesha Kolkata on Wednesday, December 21,
2022, at Bishop’s College, Beck Bagan, Kolkata. Around 90 people,
including deaf children, young adults, and their families from Kolkata and the
adjoining districts of West Bengal, actively participated in the event, along
with guests.
We
all gathered in the college ground building at 10.30 a.m. The inauguration
programme took place at the ground after finishing the registration formalities
and breakfast. The programme began with March Past, which was attended by all

A
sit and draw event simultaneously was organized where all the children took
part spontaneously. All sports related things were timely set up and the
equipment were arranged by the sports team under the guidance of our parent
members. All games were conducted aptly and every one enjoyed. After the sports
activity; we came back to the dining hall for the delicious lunch at 2.00 p.m.
Post
lunch, the attractions were magic show and cultural performance by deaf
children & young adults. The tricks of the magician, recitation by Abhirup
and Arpita and dance performance of Antik and his friend Nilomraj were
appreciated and everyone enjoyed it immensely. At the end, all children and
young adults were given a gift as a token of love.
The
parents learnt about different issues facing their children and adults who are
deaf or hard of hearing (DHH) through an interactive seminar while the children
enjoyed the togetherness amidst different fun-filled and learning activities. It
was a great day for the children, young adults, their parents and family
members and teachers as well, as it strengthened the bond between all of us.
